Sprucing up my own CV

This afternoon I read this great article on Business Insider about sprucing up your CV. It’s been a while since my last serious job hunt,  but I still thought I had a pretty good idea about what a CV should look like. I also thought my existing CV, at a page and a half, was pretty concise and achievement-focused, which I knew were important factors.

Sometimes, though, even a keen wordsmith has to admit that visuals matter. When I looked at Katie Simon’s CV I realised hers was far more accessible and digestible than mine.

So, I pretended that my CV was a magazine page. I love hacking at magazine features, so I told myself the information had to fit into just one page, the job titles and companies had to be obvious and the text needed room to breathe. I also fancied a colour change!

I think the new style is much easier to read and more attractive.
