Big bang machine searches for universal truth

Most of the news surrounding the Large Hadron Collider’s launch was focused on worries about black holes ending the world, rather than what the scientists were trying to find. By re-creating the conditions of the big bang, I learnt that they are keeping their fingers crossed that they could find the elusive ‘God particle’.
