About Me
I grew up in the Sussex countryside, a few miles north of Brighton, England. The quiet days spent reading stories, along with with the shameless gossiping that is the trademark of a close village community, led me into journalism.
CAREER
My first proper full-time permanent job in journalism was at Newzeye publications in North West London, where I worked as assistant editor on Brownfield Briefing and Sustainable Building.
I have also worked at Future Publishing, IPC Magazines, The Sunday Times Magazine, French News and The River. I have also been published on The Guardian website, one of my proudest achievements so far.
INTERESTS
I love to travel whenever I get enough free time and money, and have been independently to Australia, Singapore, Amsterdam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, France, Malta, Turkey and Croatia.
I recently spent three months travelling independently around North and Central America. I went away to see and experience more of the world and the amazing people in it, and challenged myself with scary tasks and by keeping a blog.
Among other things I explored mountains in Canada, saw bears close up, walked around national parks including the grand Canyon and Niagara Falls, befriended an atheist in Texas, joined in with the Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington DC, cheered at a college football game, broke into a Harvard dining room, caved among Mayan sacrificial remains in Belize, played with Guatemalan orphans, hiked up and boarded down volcanoes in Nicaragua and cuddled monkeys in Panama.
I love outdoor activities wherever I am in the world and often go hiking and camping. In the city I enjoy visiting exhibitions and catching live dance, theatre and music performances.
